Students will investigate the defining characteristics of the world’s biomes, examine human impacts on these ecosystems for food production, and discuss sustainable practices for managing biomes to support the growing global population.

Students will:

  • Explore native flora and fauna on a bushwalk, learning about biodiversity and the ecological roles of various species
  • Discuss the threats posed by invasive species and urban development, emphasising the importance of conservation
  • Conduct a biodiversity survey using quadrats to identify and record various plant and animal species, fostering a deeper understanding of ecological interactions and the importance of conserving local habitats.
  • Experience a dip-net fishing activity to collect and observe aquatic life.
  • Explore the intricacies of marine ecosystems and understand the role of healthy waterways in supporting biodiversity.
