Garden access in September
The UCI Road World Championships brings a pinnacle cycling event to Wollongong 18 - 25 September!
We’ll be open every day of the Championships, but traffic changes vary daily and may affect how you enter the Botanic Garden.
You can even watch the race from the Garden as the athletes ride along Murphys Avenue.

We're open 7am to 6pm daily from 17 September, including the Public Holiday on 22 September
This Olympic-scale event will involve multiple road closures and special event clearways as some of the world's best athletes compete on our roads.
The best options for visiting us during UCI is via the entry gates at:
- 29 Madoline Street Keiraville (eastern side)
- 27 Northfields Avenue Keiraville (northern side).
There will be limited access at our entrances. Download a map and find out more about access and mobility in the Garden.
Public Transport
- The best bus stop is at our Northfields Avenue entry. This bus stop connects with buses to North Wollongong Train Station.
- Use public transport where possible. The Transport NSW Trip Planner can help you plan your journey.

Free shuttle bus: From 17 – 25 September, the usual 55A and 55C Gong Shuttle services will be replaced with three free shuttle services along different routes. To learn more, download the UCI Shuttle Bus map, or see the Buses section on Transport NSW's UCI page.
Cycling
- For the safety of all visitors, cycling is not allowed inside the Garden.
- We have a number of bike racks at Garden entrances.
- You can walk your bike through the Garden.
Driving
- A limited number of free car spaces are available at our Madoline Street or Murphys Avenue car parks (2hr limit).
- Free street parking is available in surrounding streets, but may be in high demand. There will also be some special event clearways in the area, so please check signs carefully.

Things to do while you're here
- Watch the UCI championships from the Garden! The cyclists will go right past the southern side along Murphys Avenue.
- Pack a picnic or grab something from the Garden Grounds Cafe and relax in the beautiful nature surrounds.
- Download a map and explore the many plant collections. Local favourites are the Dryland and Rainforest Collections plus the Towri Bush Tucker Garden.
- Take time out for yourself on the Go Slow for a Mo' Nature Wellness Trail.
- Take the self-guided Koala Tree Trail.
- Join a guided tour on the electronic buggy on every Wednesday.
