Leaf Hopper Trail
Ready for an autumn adventure? Bring the kids and explore our Leaf Hoppers Trail—a fun, free, self‑guided journey through the Garden these school holidays!
What’s it all about?
Leaves are one of nature’s quiet superheroes. They:
- make food for plants from sunlight (photosynthesis)
- feed animals and humans
- fall to the ground and enrich our soil
- come in amazing shapes, colours, textures and sizes
This trail invites young explorers to discover just how incredible leaves really are!
But Lil the Leaf Hopper needs your help…
There are special leaves scattered around the Garden. Can you help Lil find them?
What to look for
Explore the Garden to find four types of leaves:
- Big veined leaves
- Juicy leaves
- Leaves that's aren't green
- Trickster leaves (leaves that might not look like leaves)
How it works
- Pick up a Leaf Hoppers Trail flyer from our welcome signs.
- Follow the map or the arrows around the Garden.
- When you find a plant, please leave the leaves on the plant—they provide energy, shelter and food for wildlife.
- You can collect fallen leaves from the ground to examine their shape, size, colour and texture.
